Why is it okay to rub your
eyes, pick your fingernails but not your nose? I do not
know, but a small group of players feels as if any of
these behaviors, or other disgusting practices, is acceptable
at the poker table. Do they feel as if they briefly turn
invisible to the other players? No, that cannot be it.
I actually saw an otherwise well groomed, neatly dressed,
well mannered person "air-blow" his nose onto
the floor next to the table! That is, he closed one nostril
with one hand, turned his head to the side and blew! I
have seen athletes do this on the playing field, in the
grass, but never inside on carpet. What allows people
to act so unrefined?
The urge to satisfy their momentary needs allows them
to deny the existence or significance of the other players
at the table. This should tell you about their abilities
to deny other things. Like the improbabilities of their
hand's chance to win.
